Brazos River Erosion Control Project
Construction Notice: Early Morning Concrete Delivery
February 2025
The erosion control structure that protects New Territory from the Brazos River was completed in November 2024. The six bendway weirs and 250,000 tons of stone riprap can be seen in a recent aerial video of the Brazos River Erosion Control Project. In December, construction started on the permanent access roads around the structure, but wet weather in January has delayed progress. The week of February 17, 2025, the contractor is expected to start the first of five early morning concrete pours. Due to the large volume of concrete needed for the access roads, construction must begin before regular work hours, which typically start at 7:00 a.m. All concrete pours are currently scheduled to be completed in March.
The entire Brazos River Erosion Control Project is expected to be finished in early 2025, and then fort Bend County Levee Improvement District 7 (FBCLID 7) can start working on soccer field restoration with New Territory Residential Community Association (NTRCA). The New Territory Sports Complex restoration plans and schedule will be finalized in Spring 2025.
